Character Basics
Full Name: Deborah Lynn Morgan
Nickname(s): Deb, Morgan
Age: 32
Appearance
Look: 5'6, 128, dark brown shoulder length hair, green eyes, thin/boyish frame
Scars or Tattoos: A few scars here and there from various minor accidents.
Portrayed By: Jennifer Carpenter
Personality: A bit crass, honest, needs approval, Tom Boy
Basic Personality: Perhaps the most blunt individual to have ever walked the earth, Deb has no trouble speaking what is on her mind, whether it's about a case, sex, or just that the person sitting opposite of her is a total bitch.
She doesn’t like being helped – if she falls then she'll prefer to get up on her own, if she breaks her nose, she’d rather mop the blood up herself and take herself to fix her own damn nose, and in all she simply doesn’t like being helped – it makes her feel weak, as though she cannot support her own needs, especially in an accident. She would rather protect others than be protected herself, and I suppose some would call that pigheaded bravery, but not Deb. She calls it necessary, because she knows she is not weak. There are weaker people than her, as she says, who need to be protected.
Deb is very, very headstrong and opinionated. She is quite the debater and when she sets her mind to a side, its hard to get her to switch. Its not a bad thing, but when you're working under pressure and Deb refuses to go through with a plan, things could get tricky. Most of her friends have learned how to deal with this and Deborah herself is getting better about compromising. She just knows what she wants and how to do it; is that a bad thing?
Accent: American
Occupation: Police Officer, works with Homicide
History
Birthplace: Miami
Family: Dexter (adopted-brother) Harry (father) Doris (Mother)
History: Deb was never a girly-girl, and she never played with dolls. Most of her time was spent trying to tag along with Dexter and her father, or playing with other boys in the neighborhood. She was the girl that played just as roughly with the boys, hit just as hard as they did, and came in at the end of the day all muddied up with scrapes and bruises.
Deb often felt overlooked and ignored by her own father in favor of Dexter. Probably why she seems to think she HAS to find "true love," as well as causing her to seek validation from the males with whom she works.
Despite that though, Deb loves her big brother. She has never given him that feeling that he doesn't belong in her family. She was always made to feel the one in second place when it came to their father. Now as adults they are close, but Deb wants to be closer. Deb often says she feels Dexter tries to push her away when she gets too close. She also senses that her big brother has secrets, but she can never get a straight answer from him. (Deb has asked Dexter to use his 'intuition' several times to help her professionally!)
Deb was always desperate to prove herself to her father and earn his attention, and thought following in his steps and becoming a cop would be enough, but she now admits that it didn't really seem to work.
