Nottinghamshire, England; 1192 A.D.
King Richard, the Lionheart, left years ago to fight in the Holy Land. In his absence, his younger brother John, Prince of Mortain, was left in control of the kingdom. When the war ended, hope returned that there would be order in the land...but Richard did not return with his Knights.
While keeping his brother's king-napping hidden, Prince John and his friend, George, Sheriff of Nottingham uses the time they had, to work their plan for control of the crown. Needing money, they taxed the people of the towns over which George had power of Sheriff. Nottingham has suffered greatly.
Hope lays with the few who are brave enough to stand and fight. Some outlawed for their efforts. Some were hanged in the castle's court yard. Yet they fight, still.
